Don't mean to make you cry but this is my back yard the other day and during season but I left them go since it was the first time they stop since I moved in. I get anywheres up to 250 pictures a night on the game camera and here are a few. The video was funny as you will hear my 9 year old upstairs say,, There doing it again. She came downstairs asking what they were doing and I told here playing Leap Frog. Of course my oldest was yelling, aww grose, thats sick and I had to tell her to stop so the little one quit asking why.

Every day its like this. Rick B

Tried to get a buddy his second ever turkey... had one roosted last night, snuck in close this am and waited for the show. He cranked up at 6:06am and finally flew down at 6:34am. Steady walking away from us. We headed into the swamp and got close. Fired up the hen but she wasn't going to share her beau with the new hussy in the neighborhood. Let them work off and tried to intercept back at the roost. Didn't hear a peep this evening.

I don't know about Ohio, but here in Mt the Vultures are flocking in town...same time every Year!I look up in the Day time and usually see about 50,once even in the Silver Maple in My front yard!

My dad was involved with putting carcasses in the woods to attract them in that area of the Reservation. The state does a large round up from the highways just for this special occasion. People are clueless to why they show up in hoards in this one area every year. I have a childhood friend who has lived here for 10 years just down the road from me and he refused to believe me until my father told him.
My understanding is they never really leave but only show up for the feast. I will say in the winter you don't see as many flying around but you do occasional see them.

Where I live here in SW Ohio, is loaded with them. just saw five tonight in a field with a hen. All five were fanning. I've already got mine, 25pounder with a 8-1/2" beard and 2-1/2" spurs., no room in the freezer for more anyway. Darned Deer.

That's why I still hunt, You never know.
If it worked every time I would get sick of it.

I can always go to the meat market.(but they get mad when I set up my tree stand):p

Temper, temper sir, don't keep the feet, just fans. Big spurs are fairly common around here on Toms, don't know why. They were about as long as my little finger, it measures 2-1/2" long. Usually, they average about 1-3/4". Birds get big here, guess it's the soil. According to the Soil Conservency there's alot of Iron and Calcium in it. Guy killed one last year over near Ross, Ohio that had a third, malformed leg about four inches long. Of course, that was near the old National Lead plant. They made weapons-grade uranium there.

No temper here...

Just calling like I see it. Put'em on a tape and I'll believe you. If 2.5" were normal in your area the NWTF record book would be full of them.

BTw, there are only 3 birds in the records for Ohio with spurs over 2" and they're barely over. In Adams Co.

Proof is in the pudding my friend.

Good luck LP. NC season ended yesterday. I had the worst 2 days of turkey hunting this season. No gobbles and only called in a hen Friday. Up to this point I had worked birds every hunt so it was a successful season in my book even if I only pulled the trigger once.

I'm off to KS on 5/23 for my last big hurrah before the baby comes in Aug/Sept. I hope to have a couple of cooperative birds out there.
