Several of you want carbine photos and I'm not going to send each of you separate photos so I PM'd each of you to see these. Both Carbines were CMP service grades and are still in the grease they were shipped to the seller in. The S'G' has a Marlin barrel, which I would guess is most likely original, and the Saginaw has a lovely green receiver.

I see no cracks or damage on these stocks. They appear to be FAT stocks.

Chrome faced receivers were done when the tolerances were off. Not super common but is found ever now and then. It was done at Springfield to save receivers. Rick B
