    My Refreshed 5.89M Springfield M1 Garand w/Friends

I have spent the last month or so working on the HRA USGI stock that came on this Field Grade SA rifle from the CMP North Store. After many coats of 50/50 orange oil and tung oil, and pure tung oil, I am satisfied with how it looks.

The rifle is amazing. A pure shooter, to be sure. 5.89M Springfield, with a 4-54 barrel. Barrel is NM marked, gas cylinder is not NM marked but IS reamed on the barrel ring like an NM gas cylinder, front sight is NM width - but unmarked.

Anyway, for $525, I feel that I got a hell of a rifle, and here are some fun pictures of the rifle, and with some friends.

    And with some friends

Field grade wood? That's better than most any field grade wood, you got the luck.

Thanks guys. I hand picked this one at the North Store a little over a month ago I guess. The wood has a lot of "character" marks in it, and does have a cartouche and the circle P still visible, but even so it really is pretty nice and has some nice grain that didn't show up in the pictures as nice as it is in person.

When I got it, it was a very very dark wood, almost blackish in color - just years of dirt and grime and grease I guess.

The barrel gauged 1.5ME and 4 TE. Still not exactly sure why it was a FG instead of a SG, but hey - CMP's loss and my gain!

Field Grades are the first rack I head for at the Store. If you look hard you can usually find a Gem or two mixed in amoung them.
You should see my WRA Rack Grade I got earlier this year. It should have Graded a high Service Grade

Nice Garand ,thanks for posting pics
