You can't finish ream a chrome barrel so the headspace is what it is. You have to start swapping out bolts and try to get lucky. Non-chrome is more accurate, but chrome cleans easier so given the choice I would go non-chrome. Also, M14 NM Sak barrels were not chrome lined and are considered the best.
When dealing with liberals, always attribute to malice what would ordinarily be attributed to incompetence.
"Of course it won't be easy; nothing worthwhile ever is. That is why I have always failed where others have succeeded."-Clouseau
I don't like lapping bolts/receivers, either should you ou719. I will always go non chrome lined.
Thanks for the input, where is the best price for non chrome lined barrels.
If Tim doesn't have them,the CMP e-store sells Criterion's at $179 ish,but You'll have to want quite a while.
"The advantage of being armed, which the Americans possess over the people of almost every other nation ... forms a barrier against the enterprises of ambition, more insurmountable than any which a simple government of any form can admit of." -- James Madison (1788)
I ordered a Criterion from the CMP on the 16th of February, no word yet.
I got two Criterion full length .308 barrels from Dean's Restorations for $186 plus s/h. Unfortunately, I just checked his website and he is out of stock again. Watch his website, he will usually post an availability date a week or two before he actually receives them from factory.
