    What are these SPOTS?

I have had this 4.2 M1 Garand for about ten years and have never really noticed these spots until I took a picture with a flash. The sposts show up in the picture with a flash, but, a lot of them cant be seen with out a flash. I dont see them as rust because I can clean and and nothing will get rid of them? Any Ideas? Is this blood? Very curious?

    Thanks,

Patina if you're selling it. Rust if you're buying it.
When dealing with liberals, always attribute to malice what would ordinarily be attributed to incompetence.

    What if you own it?

Patina all the way. This rifle has a lot of history. Just look at it. I am working on putting this 4.2 back the way it came home. No new parts. I want to keep the history here.

I will correct-her back to as close to original so I can and get out and shoot it with my Dad (Korean and VNam Vet) . Can't wait to get the correct trigger group and hand guards. Tim just put on the correct 5-53 barrel, recrown and head spaced it.

A little at a time...I'll get this baby back to Forever Forward. By the way Thanks Again Tim...Great work!!

Looks like historic rust spots. Sounds like a great plan not to rework the finish. I have several that have the same spots. You cannot see them except under bright light or a real close inspection.

Yep...That's what I thought as well. I just really like the old battle rifles with all that wear and history.

Maybe I should move it away from the Mauser in the gun cabinet.
