Hi All,
Please advise both good/bad about the Ruger Mini-14. I have never had one or shot one, so "What Say You".

I like them. I've never owned one, but I've shot them. Real nice shooters. I'd make sure to get a newer one. 581 series or newer. Also, factory mags aren't cheap and I'd stay away from the aftermarket ones.
I shot one once in 1985, 5 hours before my oldest son was born. That was the first and last time I fired one. It seemed to work well and hit where I aimed.
I have a .223 ranch rifle, it shoots well and before i was learned, it used nato ammo too..It is not as precise as i like, but i really like the way it handles..
I have fired them before. I found them to be just a blaster rifle, not overly accurate. Never did much for me . If you want a .223 rifle I would recommend a AR over the Mini . JMO

I have one. I like it. Don't shoot it much. It shoots 1inch at 100 with a barrel strut. I bought it as a Y2K rifle!

Oh, So you believe that?? I think much more of my Mini that either of my Ar's..If i was going into combat, then i would need to carry several Ar's and an AK..But to hunt with--- the Mini is the best..No twanging from the stock..The sound the buffer makes on a Ar..I just said it was not a Target rifle..I thought it was holding its value pretty well..Peace
I own an early series Mini-14, the one with the wooden stock and wooden handguard. As others have already said, its not a target rifle like my ARs but it works just fine for a nice day at the range with a series of clay pigeons at 100 yards to plink at with the kids. With current ammo prices and 22LR shortages, its almost cheaper to shoot the Mini with a 50gr cast lead bullet and 20gr of powder.
