My late father taught me that early on - he was ex-military, ex-police, and oftentimes rangemaster!

I've read about the bolt gap, and the shortcomings of the PTR91 and G3/HK91 design. It's an interesting design, still in production, and seems to offer AK reliability with a US/NATO caliber and inexpensive parts.
How many other rifles can fire without the extractor?

I don't know about rifles, but I have an HK P7M10 that lost the extractor at the range one day and it didn't even miss a beat. No fail to extract at all. I sent it back to HK and I got it back 6 months later. They didn't charge me to fix it and they even threw in a spare. Never needed it though and that was 24 years ago. Gotta love german engineering.
