    Mark2 USN combat knifes?

Okay I need a little info on my latest combat knife..."USMC type, kabar pattern' , Same size and blood grooves, USN stamped, MK2...stacked leather handle. Scabbard marked Nord_6581, BMCO /8 V* P*--- any way it is rough and missing about 1 1/4 inch of the leather from the handle...I know you can punch out the pin and remove the pummel and add leather back to the stack? Where is a source for the cut leather pieces, and who has a idea where to look up data on these knifes..I have several reproductions, but this is the first old one..OG.

Ryan, Thats about what I was looking for here..Found out last night the leather is just hardened and flakes apart if you try to pull it off the knife shank..I was trying to feel it out on how many pieces to order..It needs to be all replaced, because it cannot match....Still don't know how to make the grips part, I---v---v---v---v---I, if all the pieces are the same diameter? Some of them need to be bigger? My first attempt at working on a knife handle....Picket's charge?? I should have known the generals, and i have the tape of gettysburg here too..

OG, ebay has a guy that sell the leather rings , I think in different sizes. I make my own , glue on with wood glue and than sand down with a sanding block. Epoxy also works. You can shape the leather after its glued tight. Good luck , I spent many hours reconditioning old M3s .

I have not purchased or have first hand info on this but have considered ordering some of them. Just a thought. Good luck with the knife.

Awesome, More sources for parts, I cruise fleabay nearly every day, still "know nothing" ??MY research on the knife showed a bunch of later fakes being sold as WW2 on fleabay. The origianal handle was missing about 1 and 1/4 inches of leather..when i statred looking the leather is just dry and brittle.. Maybe the glue has been the reason I could barely prise the layers apart?? Several broke, the shaft has very heavy rust between the leather and steel.Pummel pin is solid, have it soaking in Kroiloil, the leather just loves to drink up my 3in one oil from the can..still trying to find the diameter of the disc, and now maybe getting closer to the quest....Maybe i can get a photo from my sone when he comes over with his smartphone? OG.
