They're Trying to Sell 1911A1's
This is something interesting I got in my e-mail today.

What do you think the price on one of these will even be? How many times have they been rebuilt?

the CMP charter would have to be changed by act of Congress. I wouldn't hold my breath

True, but it is a guy from congress that trying to make it happen. Who just happens for be from Alabama. And he's on the House Armed Services Committee. So it's not like this is from left field from people who can't possibly make it happen. According to the story they're set to vote on the Amendment to the CMP to make it happen later this month.

Could they not write an exemption?

I'll believe it when I see it. I've already got my RR 1911A1 any way so I'll let someone else have my spot in line.

seems to me that I remember "back in the day" before the CMP, when we had the DCM and the "one in a lifetime" rules, that qualified persons could buy one each, of the M1 Garand, M1 Carbine AND the 1911A1..... but then it might just be that I am "mis-remembering" the facts, or just "wishful thinking".....

As an update to this thread. This legislation is part of the National Defense Authorization Act, and has passed in the House 269-151. The Senate is set to vote on the bill in June.

Has anyone check with Vegas to see what the odds are on this passing with this provision in it?

They are now debating this act in the senate and it looks like it will pass easily.

Actually not surprising as this act has been up to 22% pork in the past.
