I doubt that the kid built the clock too. However, a digital clock is one of the easiest electronic things to build.
When I graduated from college in 1976, our electronics professor made us design and build build some kind of electrical device
for our senior project. He specifically said no digital clocks because they were too simple and too easy for a project.
This was almost 40 years ago and when digital clocks first started to appear on the market.

Libatards are easily impressed by trivial things.

What's this "was" stuff on the 555? It's still in production, in one form, or another, by a dozen companies. It's a great example of stuff that serves its purpose really well, is relatively inexpensive, and is reliable, even if it's not the latest shiny thing. The 555 is the 30-06 cartridge of the electronics world.

The kid is lying in this video. He holds up a bunch of stuff that he "invented", when it's really just stuff you can tear out of any computer. He didn't invent anything. Also watch his body language. He was coached what to say in this video and he is trying to remember everything. It's also not done in one "take", you can see that it's edited. Looks a lot like the videos released by terroist groups, like ISIS, of their captives, "enjoying" their new lives and condemning America. Until they are beheaded. Their is lot behind this that needs to be further investigated, but now that Obama has jumped in to praise the kid, nothing will happen.

I'm thinking Ahmed should look to the future. Sometime around 2025 we'll see him making a run for President. His whole lifestory will be massaged and enhanced. By the time he runs, it will be reported that the electronic device was to found to cure cancer, which of course led to Ahmed's fame and fortune. He will look back to the time that Obama took him under his wing and taught him everything he knows as the "son he always wanted". Of course some things like "inventing the internet" and "the first black president to receive the Nobel prize" are off limits. But never fear as it will divulged that he is really the son of Chelsey Clinton. So there you have it, something to look forward to.
