How to salvage a rear handguard

Ever get a rear handguard that has broken wood missing under the rear clip and the guard doesnt sit properly on the barrel?

I found a easy way to salvage it is to put a dab of high temp silicone gasket sealer under the handguard. Wipe in down so its 1/8 of a inch or so tall. Let dry and install.
The silicone will hold the handguard up off the barrel in its proper position

    Handguard humper.

Do you intend to conspicuously mark this repair so that nobody gets fooled by your handiwork?
