Book: "With the Old Breed: At Pelelieu and Okinawa" by E. B. Sledge

All - I watched the HBO mini-series "The Pacific" again over the weekend. This was the war in the Pacific's analogue to "Band of Brothers". It was based largely on the book "With the Old Breed: At Peleliu and Okinawa", by E.B. Sledge. He was the Marine from Alabama that the mini-series was largely based around. After finishing the min-series I went to Amazon and spent a few dollars to get the book on my Kindle. Extremely interesting and superbly written. It is told from the viewpoint not of the commanders, colonels and generals, but from the perspective of the combat infantryman experiencing the hellish existence of the pacific theater of operations. It is a relatively easy read from a "reading" standpoint, though the content gets brutal at times.

Anyway, if you are looking for something to read, it is certainly recommended.
