Inherited this from my dad... HELP!

My father was a Vietnam vet and recently passed away... 😔

Among tons of other things, he left me his tactical gear and his rifles and pistols..

One of which is a modified m1 garand I believe..

I can't get any definite answers on what It is and everybody on the other message boards told me to try here.. So here I am..

When it was purchased, he was told it was the m1a tanker..

I don't know much about these rifles and honestly I just want to know what I have..

Its only had about 100 rounds since purchased

    Please help! It's greatly appreciated

My dad left me this.. Help!

My dad passed away recently and left me many rifles.. This is the main one on curious about. He was told it was an m1a tanker but I'm unsure exactly what it is..

Any insight and possible worth would be excellent even though its never getting sold

    Thank you so much

It's a detachable-magazine M1 'Tanker' of some sort. Can you field strip it and take detailed photos? That would help determine if it's a reweld or not, and who did the work.

This site has slowed down a bit, but 'the guys' still check semi-regularly.
Rifle is an M1 (not M1A, which is a commercial M14) that has been modified to accept M14 magazines.
Trigger group appears to be BM59.
I'm not sure who did the receiver, but from what I can tell it looks professionally done.
Are there any markings? It could be a 'Bland' conversion, an M1/14, an M11, or somebody's else' work.
