    When did SA inc start making M1A's?
    They told me mine was made in Aug 1984.

    I will ask the guru in Devine as he is the one who bought the equipment and the trade mark and started the civilian version of Springfield Armory. You wont hear it from the present version as the claim there is they started it. The M1A/SA was started in Devine Texas and most of the machinery is still there. Also it is possible to find Devine marked M1As that pre-date the version sold now. Next time I go to Devine I will take a pic of the entrance to the place as the sign is still there. Some folks know the man and I think Tim is one of those people or know about him.

    I've heard of the Devine guns, and would love to find one, just because it was made in Texas.

    Mine was made Sept 4,1981 as a complete semi auto rifle,was yours semi auto or full auto or receiver only????

    They're around, but command a premium. I've been told that Elmer Ballance also made some rewelds early on.

    Mine was a complete rifle. The lady at SA told me is was shipped as a standard rifle with a usgi stock.
