    M14 barrel question.

    Fella's,
While I had an opportunity I bought a couple M14 barrels and I was talking about Them with a Friend, and it got Me to thinking, the used barrels I've bought had peened shoulders and over indexed by hand tightening w/ My receiver and both failed .308 Field gage.Has anyone else noticed used barrels being peened?I've never found a peened USGI M1 barrel,so I'm curious.BTW,both barrels came from different sources and the New Criterion barrel hand tightened to where it should I believe, and being short chambered wasn't anywhere near closing on a go.
    Thanks,
    Ryan

Ryan, Just about everyone I come across at gunshows seem to be peened. I guess the M14 guys like their barrels loose. I like my shoes loose.
When dealing with liberals, always attribute to malice what would ordinarily be attributed to incompetence.

A few years back when the Danish return Garands were around I saw a number of Garand barrels that had been rolled for a tighter fit
Thats the only Garand barrels I have ever seen that way
