Garand with 308 Barrel - Op Rod?

Does the Garand with a 308 barrel require a special Op Rod?
I found an Op Rod for a 308 barrel and it is given for being 1/2" shorter. Would it be for a BM?

Italian 'Tipo 2' 7.62 barrels, op rods, and related parts are about 1/2" shorter, U.S. 7.62 parts are standard length. The Italians shortened .30-'06 barrels and re-chambered them to 7.62.
The Italian 7.62 op rod usually has '7.62mm/2' marked on it, and also fits a BM59SL a/k/a BM59E.

    What Eli Said.

If your building or rebarreling a standard garand, with a New Production barrel (Like Criterion) then you use the standard Garand Oprod.

Only thing different on a 308 Garand is the barrel

Wasr, You can buy the Italian barrel to match it from Sarco parts if you wish to build a typo 2 .. I did it, shoots fine..not all the {SHORT} Op rods are stamped..

If you use the shorter barrel then you need a 1/2" shorter rear handguard as well.
