View Full Version : whats the best stuff to put on a 42 boyt sling to keep it soft?

on the 42 springfield m1 im getting next week its comming with a orig 42 boyt 1 1/4 leather sling that he said was soft and pliable, whats something good i can usen to keep it that way.
doubt ill actually use it prob will get a turner sling for hunting but want to use the 42 boyt for display and keep it soft

Pecards works good, also at the local feed stores or Tractor Supply see if they got "Horsemans One Step". Very similar to Pecards and works just as good IMHO. Got a buddy that uses Horsemans on old motorcyle gear and saddle bags, really works wonders on stuff you would think is ready for the trash bin. Either of these needs to be rubbed/worked in, its not a wipe on/wipe off affair.

Whatever you use make sure it's not petroleum based. Neat's foot is and is OK for new gear but it will shorten the life span of it.
Petroleum eats on the hide and breaks it down over time.

Isn't Pure neat's foot oil Petroleum Free?I don't know what the difference is,other than some say get Pure stuff?
