Took a walk in the woods today and found couple hundred mushrooms. Mostlty Half Frees with a few small grays mixed in. Anyone else been out huntin ?

Your title made Me think of something else....You know,the"happy Mushrooms"that grow out of Cow Poop! Bill,do those mushrooms have a very different taste compared to say, Portabella?

You slice them in half ,roll them in flour and pan fry them in butter
Dont really know how to describe the taste besides Yummmm

Yea man. These don't look like the mushrooms I used to hunt.

I vividly remember tasting the sound of how the mushrooms felt back in the day. Oh wait. What? Who said that?

Orlando, where do you live? My son went out for a while Sunday and didn't find any. I'm planning on going tomorrow after work.

BTW.....I'm in west-central IL.

I went Sunday with my wife and we found nothing. We're hoping Saturday is the day.

I'm not aware of any mushrooms that I can harvest here,but It should be wild asparagus picking time?!

Ryan, you can usually find Morels all over Montana, and moreso in the mountains. The season should be coming up here pretty soon. Best places to look, in my experience, are areas that have been hit by forest fires. First couple years after is best. Also keep an eye out near small streams, and especially near old rotten stumps that are close to water. I've been pretty lucky in the past, and found some the size of a 1lb coffee can.

beware of the "false morel" it looks similar but isn't a morel.

I looked Them up,and it says the way to tell for sure is to cut in half,as the real Morel is hollow throughout.I went out to look but I didn't see a Shroom of any kind..Maybe still too cold?

Ryan, If you do find some please dont eat them until you ask someone . The wrong ones can make you very sick. You have to know what you are pickin

O, I think whatever he finds he should split and send to us. That way we know for sure they're safe.

Dry? LMAO, It has been the wettest spring I can recall. Two days without rain in April and four so far in May. Not only really wet but darn cold.

Thats the way it has been here Shuff, wet and colder than normal. We have had abumper crop of Shrooms
Farmers are screwed, looks like they wont get any corn in the ground this year, just to wet
