Bill I have used automitive trim paint , its used on mirrors and door handles and such. works nice dries fast and has a satin finish. I have not used my ar as much as you do so I can not promise anything.I use it at work all the time and on my Chevy truck door handles and it does not come off. jsut clean with alcohol and spray on comes in a spray bomb. SEm products inc. I could send you a can just take a few days to get to the post office.

I actually have some black automotive trim paint and wondered about using it, dont remember the brand. Bought it at local auto parts store.
I used it to paint parts on the interior of my F150 and in 5 years it didnt show wear.
Thanks for the tip and offer
