I was recently given a Mauser 98(K?). It is the carbine length rifle--the barrel is just shy of 24". On the left side of the receiver it is marked: CESKOSLOVENSKA ZBROJOVKA, A.S,BRNO. The s/n is 5234 with a prefix of either a "1" or an "I" in a circle. The crest on top of the receiver looks a lot like the Scottish Rampant Lion. It has a laminated stock and one-piece upper hand guard. It has the large trigger guard. The bluing is in 99% and appears to not be re-done as the stampings are still crisp, not worn as with most reblue jobs. The extractor and bolt-release spring are reddish in color. All of the numbers match as far as I've looked. I've been told this is a post-war production, possibly for Israel. Can any one confirm this or correct the info that I have received? Do you need more pics? If so, exactly of what?
Thanks
Jon

It has the turned down bolt of a 98K,the stock looks like an Israeli 98 stock,as it doesn't have the 98K takedown disc, not like the Chec VZ24,so very possible post war mfgr, but a lot of captured arms were scrubbed by nations who had them(maybe by BRNO nazi production?)and re marked. It also looks to have the nazi produced czec winter trigger guard.I have had several Russian captures with the plum color extractors such as Yours.hope any of this helps.
