Well, a FAL parts kit anyway. It's an Austrian STG58. 90%+ original finish. I couldn't resist. Can't afford to build it right now though but it's a start.

The FAL is surely a fine Rifle,and putting kits away may be very smart at this point.I do not own one,but hope too some day.

Ryan, If you would have dumped a bunch of money into kits 5 years ago you'd have toy money for the rest of your life. Funny thing is I can't blame obama for this one. It was Bush! Go figure.

So whats a kit cost and what else do you need besides what comes in the kit???

Kits are 300 up to 1000. A receiver is around 350. Figure another 50 in this and that. Refinishing is 150-300. If you want to assemble it yourself you have about 200 in specialized tools. They used to be cheaper than AR-15 based builds but since the batf under the Bush admin banned the import of parts kits the price is going through the roof.

Um, there are next to no FAL kits that didn't come in prior to the barrel ban - which was actually a 1970s law being enforced for the first time!

Eli, as you said the barrel ban wasn't enforced. Kits were being imported until 2006 using the loophole that the kits were not to be built as rifles but as replacement and repair parts for existing ones. I still can't believe it was under the Bush admin and not obama's. that
