I picked up a couple of USGI M14 stocks at the gun show. There is NO metal (not even the stock liner) on either.

DAS stamp and firing proof P are very well struck on stock #1 (looks like an SA "P"), DAS is weak and "P" is boxed on stock #2.

What are they worth without metal?

$30.00 less than you paid for them ?:)

That would be bad... :)

I'll probably get the stock metal and try to sell them. Is there a way to tell manufacturer by firing proof? The square p has what looks like a stylized "S" stamped in the buttplate recess.

From what I remember the "S" would make it a Sykes stock

Are the CMP stocks birch or walnut? These stocks are flat out mint. If not for a couple of storage dings (and the firing proof) I'd say these were un-issued.

Mint stocks with metal will go for over $100.00

From the examples I have seen,They can be Birch or Walnut and crap to mint.

Matt - Remeber when I looked at the M14 kits the CMP brought to the Eastern Games. All of them had 100% total shitty stocks. They were barely good enough for firewood. O came walking past and tried to do his best salesman imitaion. It was laughable.

Some of the stocks I've seen from builds on the CMP forum are like new. You'll never know waht you'll end up with. For me I'm sure it would be a steaming pile of high-fiber fecal matter.

I'll take a picture of these and let you guys decide what they look like. I've never even shot an M1A/M14 so it's all new to me.

I looked at his posts/pictures on the CMP forum. I'll get all the parts and put a price on them over there.

Im talking no metal and my only reference was a deal where I had to purchase 10 or more at $5 each.
