Bought a group of six walnut Garand stocks for $230.00 shipped
UPS delivered today and overall stocks are in good condition, I would say as good as what used to come on Service Grades.
I pulled last stock out of the box and its a IHC !
Now all I have to do is find a rifle to go with it:o

Is it an IHC or is it also marked correctly as an IHC?

OR 2682 Stamped in the barrel channel, notch cut in stock by the recciver heel , semi circle arsenal repairs to buttstock , 1/2 DOD, non serif P

It gets better,I took another look at them this morning and I "think" there are two WRA stocks :)

At my last gun show a vendor was selling "Rare" IHC stocks. He pointed out the Harvester cartouche on the side of the stock. He had three of them for $1000 or $400 each. I passed on the opportunity but I noticed one was missing later in the day, a fool and his money are soon departed.

I'm still trying to figure out how you tell the differences in the stocks. Other than the Springfield stocks, it's not like the carbine stocks that have obvious markings. I have 2 stocks now on the Garands that I bought and I have no clue what they are. I'll be posting pics of them soon for help from you guys. I'd like to get an HRA stock and a Winchester stock if neither of the ones I have are them. Also, all this stuff about "punch marks" has my head spinning on the other parts. I don't know why people think carbines are so difficult. Garands have less manufacturers but are a huge puzzle to me!

As I understand it, these IHC stocks didn't pass inspection. Too much wood taken off in the shaping process at the buttplate area. They were reworked to make them within specs. IHC was in this to try to make money, so you don't throw away inventory, you make it work. This was their solution to make it work.

They were actually for sale on the CMP forum. From the pictures I just thought they were just shooter stocks. He didnt have any close up pics. I was actually surprised no one else jumped on them. Heck $40.00 each is a pretty good deal for shooter wood
