They sell for $4K new with two mags. The last used one that sold on Gunbroker went for $3600 just over a month ago.

Do you remember was it a newer model or a older one with mostly USGI parts?
The one I am thinking about has a serial #81

Ya thats the problem. I'm trying to figure out what to sell so I can buy it.
Not sure its worth it or not. Would be a "cool"" factor but not sure how long that would last

As best I can recall, the one I was looking at on GB was an early version. It had seen some use, but not very much.
I wanted it bad, but didn't have the $3K+ it was going to take to get it at that time.

I have one and I LOVE it. I reenact with it all the time. I paid $3750 for mine with one mag (used) I bought mags from Ohio Ordnance for $15 each. They eat just about any type of ammo. I shoot swanson blanks and HXP through it. If it has a ww2 barrel on it BUY IT. what does he want for it???

USGI barrel marked NE 1944 , 7- 20 round mags , extra Bakelite stock ,cleaning kit , 6 pocket belt marked Colt 1918. Seller wants $3850.00 but I'm more comfortable around $3500.00 .
The serial is different than most I have seen ,its 081A3

Well look at it this way:

A ww2 BAR barrel: $300-$400 alone The gun is $4000 brand new ALL repro parts even barrel. This one will most likely have USGI parts. That extra stock is at least $100 to $200, the mags are another $140, and the belt is a WW1 belt, that has been updated and used during WW2, Prolly about $75 to $100. So its at least $4500 worth of stuff. If I didnt already have one, I'd buy it no questions asked without haggling on the price. BUT thats just my .02

No problem. Offer him $3500 and if you get it, you STOLE it for that price. Especially since it has USGI parts. Those command more of a premium. Mine has a Korean War barrel on it. If you need any more help on it, fell free to PM me and I'll send you my Cell number.

Funny thing is I don't think it will qualify as an "assault weapon" anywhere in the country. Doesn't have any of the evil features. How ironic.

I tend to agree with O on this one. Economy is in the dumps and Christmas is right around the corner. Not alot of folks have $3500-3850 to fork over for a rifle.

A BAR and a Barrett 82A1 are on my short list of dream rifles .Both have gone up in $ since I was single and had cash to burn .

I heard back from Ohio Ordnance, they were confused by the receiver stamping
They figured it must have started out as a blued A1918 and someone parked it and converted it into a 1918a3
I passed on it and it has since sold

It would qualify in the People's Republic of New York with that bi-pod on it.
