View Full Version : Took My M14 to the range.

The weather was 30 degrees w/about 10 mph gusty wind.I was only going to function test w/mixed up reloads,but I decided to strap My sling on for the second target.Two flyers really opened it up,but I think it will kill Deer,I shot 11 rounds at that target.Loads were either 40 grns IMR 4064 w/150gr Hornady FMJBT,or Hornady 150 gr SPBT(all mixed together) and also 38 grns IMR 4895.You know I'm a crappy shot but it's nice to finally use what I built.

And cases look good? I have no doubt the cases look great, just curious.

Absolutely Babe!I inspected all of them and They looked just like the ones I fired from My M1.No malfunctions,marring,or stretch that I could see.I also set My FL die to My bolt and Chamber.

Thats a beautiful rifle. Bump up your charge a bit. My .308 load for my old M1A was 40 grains of 4895/r15/Varget and a 168 AMAX. With 150's you should be able to do more. Then the "settle in" to the stock thing.

Thats a beautiful rifle. Bump up your charge a bit. My .308 load for my old M1A was 40 grains of 4895/r15/Varget and a 168 AMAX. With 150's you should be able to do more. Then the "settle in" to the stock thing.

Actually Dan,I wrote it wrong,The IMR 4895 loads were 38 grns,not 34:o

With the 150 give it a couple more 40-41 grains of 4895. Watch the front sight post and give the trigger a nice squeeze, you'll be removing the "Certified Terrible Shot" BS from your tagline.

Your rifle looks great. Thanks for sharing the pictures. Looks like a fun time at the range. I've really been wanting one of those rifles.

You need any surplus 7.62x51 Brass to reload ? I may have 150 -200 cases of Lithuanian somewhere
