OK, by popular demand, for Jon and Orlando, pictures of the trigger guard from my son's CMP "correct grade" Rifle Cal. .30 M1.

Notice the "dimples" on the lugs. Maybe someone else can point out any other details, but other than those, I don't see a lot of difference between this one and other stamped guards without part numbers.

Many thanks to HerkFE for allowing his rifle to be used for this educational pictorial. ;)

And, yes! I put it back in the gun safe! You won't even notice the scratch on the stock! :p

Well, I'm still not sure, because I've seen them advertised without the dimples too. There is one for sale at the CMP traders forum right, listed as HRA, with no dimples.

Ok, I think I've got it. The early HRA's, made by Hart, have no dimple or punch mark on the lugs. The later ones, like the one pictured here, have punch marks on the lugs that are smaller than the "dimples" found on some other guards. Note also the shap of the side cuts from the flat of the of the bottom front up to the rounded cut just under the lugs.

Any idea on this one?

I'm not seeing the distinctive punch mark in your's like is on my son's. Your's does have the "dimple" on the lug that looks more like SA. I have one of those too on a -12 SA housing.

Orlando,
The lug ends on yours just look like normal parting-off marks from the lathe operation. They're more like tits than dimples.

That guard came off a trigger assembly that all other parts were HRA. I was hoping that the gaurd was right

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but isn't that a milled hook where an HRA should be a stamped?

Good catch, it is a milled hook. I missed that
Guess I was seeing what I was hoping for not what was there

Cupped is right on on that one. I missed it too. It's a late war SA.

Good catch! I was so intent on examining the lugs that I missed that too.
