I have been looking for a pocket carry pistol. I plan to carry it mostly in the summer months when you don't have a lot of bulky clothes to cover a regular size pistol. I was looking in the 9mm range. I think a .380 is too small of a caliber and a 40 S&W may be too big to control reliability in such a small size.
I have it narrowed down to 3 models: The Ruger LC9, Kahr CM9/PM9, and the Kimber Solo.
I've been reading the reviews for all of them and they have different good and bad points. It just depends on the reviewer. I was wondering if anybody here has one of these pistols and what they think of it

I generally carry a Kimber CDP Ultra II Crimson chambered in .45 ACP. When I don't carry the Kimber I usually carry a S&W body guard .380 w/ laser. I agree with your assessment about .380's however they're really good at a knife fight and in general beat nothing.

What's wrong with a wheel-gun like a S&W model 60 in .357 mag? If you need more than 5 rounds you're in over your head anyway.

My first choice would have been a 45. I was looking at the Springfield EMP, but the size was just too big and uncomfortable for a pocket carry. I liked the S&W bodyguard but was eliminated because it was a .380

I looked at a S&W 60 at a gun show. That one also was too big to fit in my pocket comfortably.
I agree you don't need a lot of rounds. The bad guys will generally leave after you shoot the first guy.

You didnt just pick up a concealed carry handguns magizane did you? They are comparing all three of your choices! peace toolman. Sometimes i carry one of these depending the mood im in. SW model 44: SW27: LCR.38 speical, LCP.380:XDM.40: XD.40:ruger.40: 1911 Springfield.45acp: SW44.mag: Springfield GI.45acp. Depends what mood im in. Also the most important part is #1 Buy what you can afford,#2 Buy what fits your hand. Dont under estimate .380acp. They are making some very sweet models right now.

NOTE: 90 percent of my handguns are in someone elses name. i just bought in gun shows or friends from friends ETC.

The Ruger,Kahr and kimber all fit my hand with the little finger under the mag, unless it has the finger extension on the mag. They all fit comfortably in my pocket. That's why I narrowed down to those three and nothing bigger. I was trying to see if anybody here had one and if they liked or disliked it.

Toolman...Which magazine is reviewing these pistols ? I'll pick it up. I mostly got my info from the web and gun shows.

i'm really liking the Ruger LCR in .38+P. a nice 5 shot wheel gun in a small frame. can get it with the Crimson grip or Tritium night sight or plain front sight. hammerless, snub grip. alloy frame at 13.5oz.. 4.5"h x 6.5"l. i'm not usually a Ruger guy but it fits the bill.

I don't know why you would limit yourself to pocket guns. I think a good holster makes all the difference in the world. I carry a Glock 23 in my crossbreed supertuk holster year round with no problems.
