Yeah, don't hold your breath. I find it hard to believe that it will happen under this administration, despite what the Korean newspapers claim. I would more expect the US to pay the Koreans off to destroy them before allowing someone to import them. All for our own good mind you.

Heres my take on this ,you may or may not agree
These rifles have been talked about and rumored about for the last 10 years, it is nothing new.
The article written by the Korean Times sounds like BS
I remember the Korean Imports in the early 1980's they were nothing to get excited about. My Carbine "looked" new, I suspect the Importer did a refinish just so they would sell, barrel was toast
"If" they ever do make it to the US, I would expect prices to be in line with CMP's.
There are some of the nicest Garands available now that we have seen in years, I cant get excited about Import marked rifles of unknown quality. Anyone remember SOG's worn out Garands from a few years ago?
Just my opinion,yours may vary

Korean Garand thread # 1,000,097.

Orest has stated many time that CMP representatives have seen these Garands and they were to be rated poor to extremely poor. He has also stated they WILL NOT be getting them, they'll go to an importer.

i was just reading that the garands are now approved for import, but not the m1 carbines because of the detachable magazines.if thats the case original parts and ammo will dry up overnight and boyds will be on alot of overtime.i have a primo garand so i dont really care if they come in or not.it could be good for websites like ours here and getting more people interested in this rifle cant be a bad thing, just my opinion i guess.

Would they be a good start for a Mag fed Garand? If they are in the $2-300 range stated in the article?

The Korean M1 Garands which have been coming for at least ten years reminds me of the new Army jeeps stored in crates which are to be sold for 250 dollars each, sure everyone will remember those. As for the private importers perhaps we'll see M1 Garand parts kits for sale again.

I just worked a deal today with an importer on some of these Garands. I'm doing a 500 gun deal and am guaranteed 50 WRA's in the bunch. The entire deal is off if the rifles are not allowed in the country. I'm crossing my fingers.

Since these Garands have been reportedly in such bad shape I'll be there has been no maintenence done, meaning all original parts.

Oh and Tim.. did you work and of the "canned" Garands into your deal? I'd be interested in an unopened can for my gun room.

Will your garands have the "Shuff's" import stamp on the barrel ?
