Took the Carbine to the range today was doing good with the new repaired M2 stock when I noticed My groups were enlarging..ah ha,rear sight loose,in fact,so loose it wobbles to both ends.Ok,so I just use the front sight...@25 yrds still able to kill a rabbit, then the handguard falls off..darn it,My bayonet band is stripped and pushing over spring!!!I get pissed and unload the next mag holding the handguard down.I was kinda mad,but still had fun!I guess My Receiver is crap because it has been staked so many times it is missing metal...Oh well, the Winchester barrel still has a minty bore, and will still kill Rabbits.

Stake the rear sight dovetail and not the receiver. Rear sights are out there, receivers cost money. I know it's not "hoyle" but I choose to disfigure the rear sights any day over the receivers.

I will do that Tim.I agree that a sight is better sacrificed than a Receiver...but the previous owner didn't :(

You can also use green loctite it is designed for high shock (recoil) applications.

I staked the sight base and now it is"Rock solid".Turns out it was the screw in the bayo band that was stripped.I threw a repop screw in there and now it tightens up.all seems well.
