View Full Version : And now for something a little different, The Mini-G W/O Rear Guard

So I'm breaking down the Mini-G to stake the gas tube slots and tighten the gas tube fit. While I was at it I broke the rifle down to do a complete clean & lube. I'm looking at the G with the rear guard off and it hit me, "Hey this doesn't look all that bad!" So I snapped some photos of the Mini-G with the rear guard and the barrel band removed, don't need the barrel band if the guard isn't there. Give your 100% honest opinions, good and bad. Geesh, like I really have to beg you guys to speak your mind. Just remember when you start calling me names, it's not the War Room and I do tattle tail to forum moderators, just ask around! I didn't get the title of being a CMP-BBC member just for being a "Nice Guy". Ha!

Looks ok, but I wouldn't want to shoot it like that.....barrel might be a tad bit warm!

Yeah, you wouldn't want to grab it from the top after firing it!

I am not loving it, but I think it would look great with a ventilated guard. kinda of a little like a 1941 johnson.

Everyone knows that I am NOT a G fan,but I can honestly tell You,that looks good!It doesn't look so Boxy and for some reason I think it gives more of a"Machine Gun look".IMHO

I wonder if you could modify a vented M14 handguard to fit. Might look interesting.

Ventialted M14 guard would look good if it would work

I'll say it looks interesting. I believe a vented handguard would sorta look like the scope mount... to me it would be better than nothing on it.

I think it looks unfinished. Maybe it's because you always see pictures with the hand guards on, but it needs something else. To each his own I suppose.

Unfinished is the right word. The ventilated guard would look hot, as would a scout mount.

If only someone offered a ventilated upper hand guard for the Garand. I think that would look pretty sweet.

Barrel is free-floating now. Wonder how it shoots?
