Water Displacement Oil?

I have some Blackener I was going to try on a few gas cylinder locks. After dipping in blackener and rinsing should it be treated with water displacement oil? If so what to use??

I don't know much about the blackener anymore. I haven't used it in years sir. I never liked it, rubbed off too easily.
