I bought an old model single six over the weekend and it came with the mag cylinder. What I am now wanting is the LR cylinder.

Does anybody know of the best place to get one?

Also, does the cyclinder need to be matched to the serial number or are they all interchangeable?

Thanks in advance

Best bet is to contact Ruger as the cylinders are not all interchangeable and they used to Sell/fit for a total of $50.00 of course that has to have gone up! Normally they will not sell a cylinder unless they fit it so buying one from other sources will still require fitting and then again it may just fit as is.When you say "old model" are you talking about the "flat latch " or the next model which still has the four clicks when cocked? As to the serial number,it is only applied to the cylinder when fitted and indicates year model production. If you call Ruger have the serial number handy so they can advise you. I had a lot of contact with Ruger before I retired and they are good folks to deal with.

Thanks Mix. The model is the 4 clicks when cocking. It is before they made the safety improvement. I was thinking that the cylinders had to be matched but wanted to confirm. I will go ahead and contact Ruger.

It is my understanding that due to a huge back log in production, they have stopped talking orders from distributors.

Have you heard anything about this?

If true, my request for a cylinder may go to the bottom of a very big pile. No big deal, I’ll just shoot mags and other 22 guns while I wait.

Post some pics. I've got a single six from the early 70's - 100% mint condition with original box!

I just knew some one would have that flat gate! LP those sold very slowly when they came out causing Ruger to re evaluate the six. Now the gun is super rare in collectable condition. Plenty of shooters but very few mint or collectables around.

I just call customer service and they are very good in response time. May be a little slow in getting the part to you but at least they answer the phone.

Here's mine. Bought new in 1968. Given to me by the original buyer, who never fired it. I've put maybe 50 rounds through it. have original box, packing, and manual.

I love the plumb frame

Sean

I love that red frame. I have a two digit Modal 77 rifle and the reciever is the same color. I wonder why the don't do it anymore?

When I saw the title of this post my immediate thought was "L.P." he is "all things Ruger" if anyone here has one it'll be LP. He saved my bacon on a Ruger once! Thomas
