I like to get out to Western NC sometimes and do some fly fishing out in the mountains. We caught a boatload of trout. It was catch and release still so no trout sandwiches, which is fine because I don;t eat fish. Mostly we caught Brook trout (which fight like they are 2x their size), and some Rainbows. Here's one of the small guys.

Here is a pic of the stream we were fishing. It;s Curtis Creek in Old Fort, NC.

The little guys were very agressive:

I do not get out in the woods nearly as much as I used to, or should. So these little excursions really are theraputic.

I was just talking to a buddy of mine about doing some trout fishing.
This was my latest excursion on the fly:

We caught 20+ snook in ~3 hours of fishing. Biggest fish is in my Dad's hands. This was our only double.

Saltwater fish sure taste better.I only eat Trout if I'm camping and I'll eat Bass,Pike and Walleye, but would rather have Halibut.

those are easy to catch. 1 m80 in the creek and your done. Prince, your right about the halibut. i have been to Alaska and sent around 125 lbs. home. best damn fish anywhere.

Heck with you buckshot, Trout are God's fish baby! Nothing more romantic or rewarding then fishing for the beautiful trout or char.

just harrassing ya Shuff. In my late teens throughout my 20's I would drive to northern Wisconsin and spend the weekend hitting very small streams and creeks for native brookies and browns, along with the occasional rainbow. I'd use a little 5 1/2' spinning rig and tie drie flies to my mono line and float it down with the current. I used to love that. Those creeks are dried up or polluted from run-off now. When I was in Alaska i also fished for Dolly Varden with my dad. We rented a truck and camper and just drove around the state. Fresh Dollies for breakfast next to some eggs and toast. I lived for fishing back then. Now it seems that I can't find the interest much. not sure why. anyway, just yankin your chain Tim.
