I just got a new Winchester reciever, it is a may 1941 reciever. The serial # is not very deep, it has been refinished, but the other markings are deep. Is that common with Winchester, or is it just from age?
Thanks
Joe

Joe,
very weak stamping was common with WRA,and refinishing doesn't help.

I think Tim has a process to enhance the lettering.

And worse if it made it overseas in the salty environment. Rick B

[QUOTE=Prince Humperdink;23195]Joe,
Winchester logos ave usually very shallow, & wear off quite easily.
You could call Rick of Everclear Engraving at 732-626-5425 (NJ) I know he does Springfields, but yu can ask him if he does Winchesters.
