I have aquired a S-A-12-46 barrel.
unchromed pad.
I am unformillure with 1946 barrels.
D-35448-35 Y-228.
"M" stamped & SA ordinance wheel.
Was this a replacement barrel or what???????

Yeah,I have one of those replacement barrels as well, except Mine is 9-47.I think these were being used in the rebuild program late to post War...I think this was the SA/SHM period, and this particular rebuild program went until December of '47.

1946, 1947, 1948, 1949 and 1950. It is believed that 1950 is when they started to chrome all gas pads. I don't think anyone has found one yet without chrome. I had examples of them all(except 1950) without chrome, only have a 46 and 49 left.

I've got a 12/46 and a 6/49 on a couple of my rifles. No chrome.
