First of all, if this base was made by Griffin and Howe I will personally pleasure all of you. It looks like someone made it with a stone knife and a club, I'm trying to follow what's going on there but I think we're trying to say if Christos from Athens made the rifle from an old sardine can it's still an original M1C. Seems there are a lot of similarities between the CMP faithful and Heaven's Gate.

I would never ask the forum members what to do with a rifle. If he is un happy deal with customer service. If it was mine it would have already been on the truck back. My only return was a correct grade that had rust on the receiver near the serial numbers. i understand he point , he is not upset with condition just weather its USGI or not. reminds me of the M1Ds that were re barreled.

If the greeks made the base, and attached the base, but the US made the receiver mod on the rifle, we have a very gray area. The base is a very very valuable part of that rifle and it was carved with one of the same spoons used to make the Greek lumber we all know and love. I've never returned a CMP rifle, not ever, but I would return that POS in a heart beat. If I were the CMP, and of course I'm not, I would advertise these things as not USGI.

As an example, if I advertised on the traders board that I had M1C rifles for sale and you all purchased that from me, you'd have a cow when you opened the box. I would suffer a terribly embarrassing moment, I would be ashamed. Somehow though, the CMP is in a very inviable position in this case. They can almost ship anything to anyone and make them happy. I want to drink from that kool aide cup :)
