View Full Version : Anyone know what an Occluded Fracture is?

I fell from a height of about 4 feet onto a brick sidewalk and landed flat on my hip. MRI shows that I have FOUR fractures in my pelvis. What is an Occluded Fracture?

occlusion usually refers to a blockage in a vessel. did your fracture maybe pinch a blood vessel or something?

I don't know yet. I am going to meet with my orthopedist on Friday morning to discuss further. I was wondering the same thing. The damage is not visible on a x ray which is why I had to have an MRI. This really sucks but I am grateful that I was not injured worse.

I had the whole pelvis fracture thing years ago. Now I have me a cool "don't have to wear a seat belt" note.

that short of a fall you're very lucky you didn't land on your head. falls from 6ft and less are usually more deadly than greater heights.

A blood vessel has been damaged within the bony structure resulting in loss of circulation and eventual bone death. Report any numbness, tingling or loss of sensation immediately to your medical provider. Prompt attention may avoid the loss of, shall we say, your non-bony extremities.
