Something like this $auto$ or gernades would be cool, but I don't think ATF will ever go for it, so those of you that carry concealed, what do you carry?
I've had a CCW License for about 10 years now and I've carried several different weapons. Started out with a Colt Commander 1911, then I had a S&W 4586, from there I went to a Glock Model 36. All these weapons were just too bulky, for how I carry, so I then bought a Colt Mustang .380. The 'lil 380's are great for carrying , but I wanted more stopping power. Next was a S&W 442 38 Spc. Now this was a great CC pistol. Airweight 15 oz handgun which can be carried in your pocket, yet I wanted more knockdown. So I tried one of those .357 mags in the ultra lightweight. It was like slamming your hand in a car door when fired, so still wanting 357 power I traded my S&W 442 for a Ruger SP 101 in 357 mag. I still carry the Ruger, but only while wearing jeans. It's too heavy for my "duty pants" so I bought a Ruger LCP for my duty carry. During our first Obama "gun run" my Fire Chief wanted a LCP but couldn't find one anywhere, so not being thrilled about a 380's knock down power I sold him my LCP. I ended up buying another S&W airweight, this time a model 642. Same pistol as the 442, just silver rather than black. I love the 45 acp's and many people I know carry them, but I prefer sticking to the K.I.S.S. principle when carrying for self defense. I believe if a person is going to carry they should have a SOLID understanding of their weapon. I also believe they should be proficient in it's use, in order to hit their target and not just spray rounds into possible bystanders. Hence practice is required and while I probably practice MUCH more often than many of my friends, I know I still don't burn enough powder yearly! I've asked some of my auto carrying friends about Phase I and Phase II malfuctions and the only answer I received was a blank stare, many of these guys don't even carry a second mag. So I choose to carry a revolver because "Keep It Simple Stupid" when I pull the trigger it will fire untill the cylinder is empty, and if and when I ever need it, "tap rack back into the fight, or tap rack, take cover dump magazine, rack back into the fight" is probably just too much for my simple 'lil Okie mind to keep up with!
Yet for grin and giggles I just ordered a Para Ordnance Slim Hawg, in 45 acp. I won't carry it often, but I love 1911 style pistols and it is the smallest 45 acp package I've seen.
So what do you guys like and why? Thomas a.k.a. The Hoser

Ruger LCR-.38+p 5-shot hammerless and very lightweight. no need for large cap mags. in talking with some local and big city LEOs, most civilian shootings involve very few rounds fired and most of those do not hit the intended target. i love my .45 but it just isn't practical to me. i believe that if you need more than 5 or 6 rounds to protect yourself, you probably ought not be where your at in the first place. just my .02

I gave a 9MM some thought but I feel more comfortable with the knockdown of the 45
I looked at alot of handguns but decided on the Dan Wesson CCO 45
Commander Slide on a Officer size Aluminum Frame, dual colored Tritium night sights
Hand fit 70 series frame and slide , hand fit match barrel, hand fit match grade components, no MIM parts, lowered and flared ejection port ,beveled magazine well, hand polished flats
I can carry it all day and actually forget its there. Milt Sparks Summer Special IWB holster

i get that O. but, that fact that i choose to carry over those that do not, says that i choose not to be a victim. it is all personal preferance. i believe that 5 rounds are enough for me. some think they need a truck load and that is o.k. for them.

Springfield Ultra compact V10 .45acp.
In a Galco jackass rig.Nice and comfy,Sometimes I forget it's thier.
I carry a mouse gun when unable to carry a larger firearm, but carrying anything outside of a pocket pistol can be a PITA during a Texas summer.

Kimber Pro CDP
Kel Tec P3AT
Other than the pocket holster wearing Kel Tec, all of my holsters are Comp Tac

I have been in Law Enforcement for 13 years now. I carry every day. I have had several pistols and revolvers go thru my collection at one point or another. I started out carrying a Glock 27 but found the grip was too short for my large hands. I sold that and bought a H&K USP .45 Compact and carried that for a few years but wasnt really comfortable with carrying such a large weapon and only having 8 rounds. I carry my .38 S&W airweight rarely but I do still carry it. I decided to go back to what I carry at work and bought myself a Glock 23. I had Trijicon HD sights installed at the store and purchased a Crossbreed Supertuck Holster. Now I have 13+1 of .40 Cal in a very comfortable all day holster. I have always been a big proponent of I don't care what you carry, but you should definately carry something. That big 1911 isn't doing you any good in your nightstand at home if it's a P.I.TA. to comfortably carry every day. If you know you'll carry a .380 in your pocket everyday, that is the gun you should carry.

I have a Charter Arms Dixie Derringer, 22 mag. While NOT my first choice in a CCW one thing is for sure, It'd be DAMN handy in a knife fight!

That will fit perfect in a buck 110 knife case. You hardly even notice it is a pistol in there unless you know about it !

Well guys, I received my Para Ordnance "Slim Hawg". First off I hated the "fiber optic" front sight. I'm a clumsy B$#@H! So I knew I'd break it and then find myself NEEDING a self defense gun with NO front sight! So I ditched the sights and put Trijicon Night sights on it. Then the "bling" side of me ordered some wooden grips ;)
<a href="http://s266.photobucket.com/albums/ii272/ECFD09/?action=view&current=1-11.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/ii272/ECFD09/1-11.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>
This handgun shoots really well! So far 150rds without any FTF. That being with self defense hollow point ammo as well as FMJ!
So I've done a 'lil reloading.......
<a href="http://s266.photobucket.com/albums/ii272/ECFD09/?action=view&current=2-8.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/ii272/ECFD09/2-8.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>like 1500 rds worth!
$auto$ Now I'm going to get out and practice some!
I've tried numerous guns over the years a long time ago but always went back to a 1911. Its what I was weened on, was my first handgun buy when I turned 21 and the platform is what I'm most comfortable with. The one I carry is a Kimber CDPII compact, which is a 4" barrel with the shorter grip. The only time I switch off is when its real hot out and I'm in shorts and T-shirt. Then I carry a Keltec PF9 in my pocket. It's not much bigger than the small 380's but is a 9mm instead. I've shot the crap out of this thing to get used to the trigger. Despite being what some call a "cheap" or "throw away" gun, it has never had a single hiccup no matter what I feed it as long as its jackted bullets of any type. I did try some lead reloads someone gave me and those sucked and did'nt cycle well. Gave it a good cleaning and went back to jacketed stuff and its still ticking. It is not a long range affair at all, I practice at room distances and would'nt present it for anything further than that unless I had time to find cover and a rest, at which point you better have a damn good reason to fire anyway. I've been looking at some of the "other" pocket nines but I have yet to find one as small as the PF9 that carries in my pocket like a wallet. The Kimber Solo and Kahr offerings are nice but still are not as compact, and cost 3 times as much. I also have several 380's but don't carry them much anymore since I got used to the PF9 trigger, and believe me, that took a lot of practice.
As far as home defense, my carry Kimber is the "quick grab" but I also keep a 12 ga ready to go as well.

In warm weather I carry a Sig P250 sub compact. It's a good size weapon for how I carry, and the weight is good for in the waist band. 9MM is o.k. for stopping power with the right type of ammo. In the winter I still Like my RIA 1911 Tactical. Nothing beets a .45! I carry that in a shoulder rig. Still can carry it all day.

Springfield XDM45 or for the summer half of the year in Texas my pocket rocket S&W Bodyguard .380. The Bodyguard in a pocket holster or Versa Carry is easily concealable in shorts & t-shirt on my 5'7" 150# frame. The XDM needs jeans or baggy shorts and a bulky shirt.

Usually a Glock 22 or S&W M&P 40, since that's what work issued, it's usually available without going to the safe, and they're the guns I've shot the most with.
That being said, I still prefer a J or K frame Smith. I'll carry a Model 19 when I'm wearing the clothes to hide it, or a Model 640 in .357 in a front pocket holster. I don't need 50 rounds on my person when I'm out running errands, 5 or 6 is plenty, with a handful of loose rounds in the off side pocket.

Until a few weeks ago I carried a Springfield XD-S in .45 ACP, it is in for the recall ATM, and I am carrying my only 9MM a Ruger LC9, I do carry a NAA .22 Mag single action mini-revolver as a backup. I do have a '68 three screw Blackhawk that I will not have modified, but that safety issue is easily accommodated by using a empty spot in the cylinder. The XD-S problem was more troubling, I love mine though and am chomping at the bit to get it back.

Not telling here, But it varies with the weather, and wearing jacket or vest..?I did put the .45 back to the rear, as it began to wander when I was firing it..I'm older than most of you, I am sure..
