Well guys I just thought I'd post what I'm up to now, as you all know I bought a Browning A Bolt Target rifle. 308 cal. Well I have followed Browning's barrel break-in procedure, I purchased a "Murphy's Precision" 20 MOA base and set of 30mm rings. I was going to get a Vortex HS LR scope.........but they won't be available until fall :(. So I bought a Leupold Mark 4 6.5-20x50 M1. It's a FFP scope and while..pricey not as expensive as a NXS Night Force. Next stop to my 1k yard goal is load development, I CAN HARDLY WAIT! Here's what she looks like as of right now. Oh and yes Timmah I'm gonna go for distance with something other than a pellet gun this time! ;) <a href="http://s266.photobucket.com/albums/ii272/ECFD09/?action=view&amp;current=IMG_4507.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/ii272/ECFD09/IMG_4507.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

An 8 OZ trigger? Holy hell man? I'm not really a distance guy, but that seems waaaaay light. Otherwise, I like the setup, but those traget style stocks with the raised piece always seem goofy and ugly to me. Also, you suck, and your gun is stupid. ;-P

8 oz is light but is OK for bench rest just not any good for tramping through the woods with.
I did have my Kimber 82 down to around 3 -4 oz ,but had to be careful closing the bolt as it would sometimes fire. I now have it set on a safe 11 oz

Yea thats what I think about trigger too! When not set it pulls 6-1/2 pounds, thats a lil too heavy for my preference. I like about 2-1/2 pounds for hunting. Yet scope and all this rifle weighs in around 15 pounds and has a 28" barrel so I doubt I'll hunt much with it! I have a place or two I can set up in a blind and have 700 + yd shots at deer. Will probably try it during a doe season.
Anyway I'm loading gear right now, going out to test first load. If good I'll post results! Later all, Thomas

Well yesterday's test wasn't what I wanted. Some of it's poor results were me getting used to the "set trigger", so I may revisit that load later. Today's session shows promise. The three shots you see I "flubbed"

<a href="http://s266.photobucket.com/albums/ii272/ECFD09/?action=view&amp;current=1-9.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/ii272/ECFD09/1-9.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

Now here's the other seven!

<a href="http://s266.photobucket.com/albums/ii272/ECFD09/?action=view&amp;current=2-7.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/ii272/ECFD09/2-7.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

I'm tickled with this, but going to do some more refinement before settleing on this load!

Well Guys....the saga continues! (ever get the feeling I LOVE this $toilet$)

Anyway today I was my own worst enemy, I mean I was "batting a thousand", bowling a "300" game and then............................. I flinched :(, knew I screwed the shot on the pull of trigger. Yet I still managed to do this....<a href="http://s266.photobucket.com/albums/ii272/ECFD09/?action=view&amp;current=1-10.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/ii272/ECFD09/1-10.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>
<a href="http://s266.photobucket.com/albums/ii272/ECFD09/?action=view&amp;current=a.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/ii272/ECFD09/a.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>$clapper$

So this is where I'll start trying to meet my 1000 yd goal.

180 gr Sierra GameKing sitting on IMR 4350 with Winchester brass and Winchester LR primers

fired off "lead sled" sitting on bench at 100 yds. Velocity is 2622 fps. Chrony 10' from muzzle.
According to Sierra this bullet should stay "supersonic" to 1100 yds.

Next stop 500 yds to check group!

Good Luck and Good Shooting All! Thomas a.k.a. The Hoser
