Have you all heard? There's a new "The Pacific" coming out this summer! I guess Hanks and company have 7 episodes to add to the series, should be excellent!

I still have'nt seen the "first" one! TV took a dump quite awhile back and I'm running an antique right now that was a freebie from a cousin. The picture sucks so I don't watch too much. Someday when I stop spending money on my hobbies I might get a new one. :)

The first one was awful, why would they make more??? A "new pacific" makes about as much sense as a new cancer

Wait and see.... at least the first one showed boobies. So it wasn;t all that bad.

Compared to Band of Brothers that followed the same group of guys for basically a continous year of action , the Pacific had a lot of 'boring' parts when it wasn't showing the three main characters in combat. But that was how the war in the Pacific was fought. Intense combat followed by months or rebuilding and retraining the shattered units at some remote location. With the main guys all being in different regiments, and in different battles at the same time, it seemed kind of disjointed the first time I watched it. BUT, after rewatching it on DVD a few times, I have to say it was very well done. It really brought to light how different the two theaters of war were and the methods of bringing the hate to the enemy were also completly different.

Sean, it saddens me to hear that you didn't like "The Pacific". It was a movie about heroes for heroes. That you didn't like it, well, you know what that means. The acting, the cinematography, the special affects, all this made for the most spectacular theatrical release of all times. I'm sorry Sean that you didn't get it.

"getting" the Pacific is about as impressive as "getting herpes" (and herpes would be more tolerable). Nothing about the original series was worth a dry rat turd. I haven't met a "hero" yet that wasn't stealing from me one way or another.
