Ok got the lower receiver built and mated to the upper. The parts kit came from Blackthorne products. The lower is a stripped by Spikes tactical. The whole build was under 600. Took it to the range today and put 120 rounds through it and it worked flawlessly. Only got to shoot at 30 yds as that was the only distance this range had. Cant wait to get it sighted in for 100 or maybe 200 yds.

Sarco had the complete M16A1 uppers but of course the "Barrel Ban" took effect so they are not available with GI barrels anymore. Would have been nice to have a VN Era rifle. Nice rifle BTW.

That may be the first positive report of a Blackthorne product I've seen.

Nice Jolly Roger! Did you get the "pirate" fire control?

I knew nothing about Blackthorne but they had what i was looking for and the price was good. The fire control came from blackthorne.

Everything went together with no problems and the upper to lower is very tight no rattle.

Timmy,
I wanted the same model I carried while in the Corps. You would be surprised at how hard it is to find an A2 parts kit these days.
