SPITFIRES! Thank you for posting! You can hear the engine misfiring towards the end....Spits would cut out at high angle of attack or inverted due to type of carb. Great video.

Those were large Polls Royce Merlin engines and when you let load off they puttered as they were usually tuned for full power. If you watch again you will hear a few of them do the puttering :). Rick B

There was just a big story on the net about some old fart tramping arround Burma near or on a WWII English base and has found something like 20 crated spits with engines, apears that there going too let them be imported back to England.
