Ok I am looking for some opinions. Birthday is coming up and was thinking of askin the wife to get me an unfinished stock with the idea of sending it to Tim to get the appropriate cartouge put on it for my rifle. Now if it had a stock in poor condition or the wrong manufacturer this would be a no brainer. However the existing stock is a great condition SA replacement and looks good. I have spent alot of time (and cash) restoring this rifle to it's WWII appearance and a cartouged stock would be a nice finishing touch so my question to you guys is what would you do??

I'd buy the real thing or use a Boyd's. That stock you have now is too nice to mess with. But, it's yours. So, do what you want.

I assume that the boyds stock is a close resemblance to the WWII stock?

The original Boyds is big oversized clunky piece of wood, there is a slimed down smaller version of the Boyds that Dupage Trading sells , Shuffs may as well?
I have found that no matter were you buy them they all need some fitting, some more than others. Some is just cosemetic other fitting is function
I usually buy the unfinished version (no stain) do the fitting them stain/finish it the way I want

Wow that looks great. Yes I saw the dupage boyd stocks. Thats the one I was looking to buy I definetly want the slimmed down version. What is involved in fitting is it just lightly sanding the problem areas?

Like I said before, some is just cosemetic some is for better function.
Just about every Boyds stock will function as is but there are tweaks you can do for better fit/accuracy
Just takes some sanding, time. Eveything I do to them isnt all in the above link. The rear handguard sometimes also needs some work.
Dont be afraid of them ,they are good stocks and its satifying looking at the end result

I've finished a couple of stocks (and really enjoy doing so) but in this case I had Tim sell, fit , finish and "hump" these two when I sent them for repark. first is my WWII SA second my WWII WRA. (neither rifle is anywhere near correct) yet they do turn heads when brought out of hiding!
