So there I am surfing around on ebay for nothing imparticular, and there it is. An SA barrel dated 3-45 with an ME of 1 and a TE of 3.5 The very barrel I would need to be correct on my M1 and the price is... well lets just say I would be sleeping in my car if my wife knew. With school uniforms and books to pay for my daughters school this little chestnut is out of reach. So there it sits taunting me if it had hands it would be there on the screen flipping me the bird. At the very least It would be cool to know that there are no bids on it because it's garbage. But I fear this is not true. Someone talk me off the ledge.

My motto is, "Buy it when you see it!"

That's probably why I'm broke now.

And by the way, thanks for making me look at this guy's auctions! He has the WRA op rod that I need. I don't dare use "Bill Me Later" for that either. :(

My Long Island Brother, WWII barrels with good specs are really at a premium. Although it looks a little pricey it really isn't out of line. Eventually one may come along but if that is the last piece you need to complete an NFR go for it and lie to the old lady. If you still need a stock you can always try to be patient, but it doesn't seem like prices will be going down in the near future.

BTW, a 3-45 with similar specs sold on the CMP forums for $250. It was gone in under 10 minutes.

The seller knows what he has. If it doesn't sell he would probably just list it again later at the same price. However, there may be other bidders looking
at the barrel too. The bidding war usually starts within the last 30 seconds before the time runs out.

I'd buy it and sleep in the garage. Heck, I'd sleep in the garage even if I didn't buy it.

Yes, Bill Me Later is a great feature! It's like a credit card, only you don't get interest right away, so you can pay it off before that kicks in. However, it's also a trap like a credit card. Before you know it, you'll be putting everything on Bill Me Later and forget how high the bill is getting! :SHTF:

E-Mail Tim Shufflin. He has some WWII barrels. If he doesn't have the right one call Tony at Orion 7. He's local and he sometimes has some nice WWII barrels in stock. Another choice is to put a WTB in the CMP forum. If you're willing to accept a less than pristine barrel you can probably get one at a good price. Mint WWII barrels are the exception rather than the rule.

You can probably go 1-45, 2-45, or 3-45. Gives you a little more leeway.
