It was made by SA in Feb of 56.
Was there something more specific you are wanting to know?

Ok here goes, SA= Springfield Armory, F6535448 is the barrels drawing sheet number think blu-print, 2-56 month and year made, A226A? is the steal lot number code for the steal used too make the barrel. The P stampings are for each time the barrel was proof fired, the M stamp stands for Mag Particle Inspected for cracks in the barrel, the T stamp was when the rifle was targeted. The eagle in a box with 3 stars is called a DAS for the DoD Acceptance Stamp.

Does that help?

Could it be proper for a 6 mil? That would be nice!

According to Canfield the "T" means it was target tested.

“The barrels were also stamped “T” denoting they met targeting requirements and “P,” indicating they had been successfully proof-fired.”

What that means I don't know.

Most of the late SA barrels were "targetted", hence the "T". Two Ps indicates the barrel is most likely an original-install with two proof testings.

The rifle was complete when Target tested for accuracy. On my SA 5.91 I also have 'T' stamp under the woodline and foward near the breaching ring as well as under the bolt. SA was on the hunt for NM rifles durring assembly in our Ser# range so many rifles were Target tested, for what ever reason our rifles didn't make the final grade as there is no NM on the barrel. As a oddity my rifle came from the DCM with a NM marked non hooded rear peep .

A 2-56 barrel I would expect is too early for a 6mil rifle.
