What's All This Interest In D and C's Lately?

That's all I hear on the news lately is the "d and c", "live from the d and c", "tonight at the d and c" . I thought it was a very common procedure on women where they scrape tissue from the uterine lining if they get heavy periods or something like that? I can't believe the news is devoting so much time to uterus maintenance. I guess it's a slow week.
