Hey guys just got my new stock from Dupage. Looks great the surface is still a little rough. What should I put on it to I guess protect it and smooth it out a little. Or should I just leave it alone. Thanks.

Me, I'd fit it first and then just rub it down with the oil of your choice.

Is tung oil good? Will it lighten the wood

It will add some darkness and depth to the grain.

If you want to smooth it up some rub in BLO ,Tung Oil or whatever you choose with 400 -600 grit wet/dry sandpaper
Dip the paper in the oil and rub it over the surface. Paper is so fine it doesnt really remove much wood ,just smooths it up.

I've been thinking about an early Christmas present to myself, and I like the look of this deal. Any thoughts?

I do what Orlando does, and it comes out great. You'll need to fit around a few areas most likely, and Orlando has some info w/pics that he's posted.Looks like it will be a great looking stock.
