It's difficult to debate an incumbant on foreign policy.

Romney left a lot on the table: Bengazi, Fast and Furious, Israel. Maybe he doesn't want to be president after all?

Romney had he weakest debate on show but I thought he was mostly right on substance.

One more thing, this is the only thing I think I agree with "it" on. I want the military cut and cut BIG. I have no sacred cows. Cut the whole darn budget and cut till they all howl.

Ouch man.

I work for a military sub-contractor. A large budget cut might possibly put me and my family on the bread line.

I'm sensitive to that Sir. I would ask though, what about those who pay these taxes and are being crunched to the bread line themselves? Who's interest is more important, the dependents who receive the tax dollars or the creators/providers of the tax dollars? I would argue the interest of private property is that which is best served. Whatever is given to one must first be taken from someone else.

The founders argued very strongly against having standing army's when there was no war to be fought. Unless I'm missing some current declaration of war, it's time to trim the military down to something less intrusive on my family's budget. I have use for my money, I'd like to use it.

You're shitting me right?

Seriously.

How about we just cut the socialist bullcrap and fund the programs that this country was built on, namely heavy industry and war.

If you think you tough guys can last for long on your K-rats and cb radios without the heavy hand of Thor, you are sorely mistaken.

Realize this... we are in the forge right now.

We are between the Russian hammer and the Chinese anvil. I will gladly pay for an Aegis cruiser to be sitting dockside at the lake when the U.N. decides to turn on us.

Because your M1 won't turn back an Akula class submarine.

Who is being a tough guy? Let's not swap hats about who the tough guys usually represent as a "side". The "tough guy" says the answer to every problem is a bigger hammer or another war. The "tough guy" will circumvent the constitution for short term national gains. I am no "tough guy", I'm a guy who wants to follow my laws, remain free from tyranny both abroad and right here at home. Tyranny IS being forced to pay someone MY money to make something that I DO NOT need so that THAT person can simply have a job.

Again, there is NO person more deserving of MY money than ME ME ME ME ME. How are you Jimbo Slice, more deserving of MY money than MY family is? Why should you have my money, spend my money on your children and your needs while my family suffers without the use of MY money?

Your patriotism card is over used and it has been used fare too many times by far to many people who want our money. Add yourself to the list of other welfare recipients who cry patriot to steal my money;
- farmers
- defense contractors
- the medical field
- teachers
- the auto industry

All these pieces of #$%^ tell me that my money is needed by them because of national security and that SOMEHOW their families deserve my money more than MY OWN DAMN family. I say, $%^ you ALL!, I want MY money back!

Taxes collected to fulfill article 1 section 8 are valid taxes, this includes taxes to fund the military. Funding the military as a jobs program and not because we have use for it is no better than paying welfare money to those who won't work and does not comply with article 1 section 8.

I guess I just don't understand how someone can logically believe that we have no use for a strong military. The deterrent factor alone is worth the cost in my opinion.

Sir, who said "we have no use for a strong military"? I mean, except the founding Fathers of this country, who said that?

Yeah, and that worked out real well for them in 1814 when the British captured and burned Washington D.C. The War of 1812 was a military catastrophe for the fledgling United States. We owe the French for assistance in that one.

Just because they were the "Founding Fathers", doesn't mean they got everything right.

You're right, we can get rid of all the amendments, let's start with the first 8. If you throw out even one law they wrote, you dismiss it all.

What men of law do, if they disagree with the law, is amend the law.

The founders WERE PERFECT, they were so perfect that they knew stuff would come up. If we disagree with something they had in the Constitution, they set it up for us to change, legally! All we have to do is amend the Constitution by law. Of course, we can take the liberal, lazy, thieving, no good, sissy, way out and just circumvent the law. You know, like has been done for about the last 148 years.

Look Jimbo Slice, I happen to like a strong military, I really do Sir. If I don't see much in the way of a military threat though, I'm inclined to want my military spending cut. If that means that people lose their jobs, those who depend on military spending, so be it. It is NOT my responsibility to provide anyone with a job. As for breadlines, who said we should have breadlines? If people won't work, they should starve, not be fed by me or anyone else. Of course if the breadlines are privately funded, different story.

Nobody in the world can convince me that anyone else has a better need for my money than my family does. Anyone who would take my money for themselves can die a slow miserable death just for wanting to.

I can agree with you on this point. Anybody that wants to steal my money for their own personal gain is wrong.

However, collecting taxes to build a strong national defense doesn't constitute theft for personal gain, in my opinion.

And don't worry, I was exaggerating a bit with the "bread line" comment, I never thought you'd take it literally.

On your point of taking stuff "literally", I don't know how to change that. I've been slammed for not taking things literally and for taking things literally. I'm about as bad as the next guy for not getting all the spirit of a message right through the written word.

On the defense issue, I agree with you in spirit Sir. This does not mean though that I don't believe there is a severe amount of cronyism when it comes to deciding what defense items need to exist. There are military bases across this country that are there for one reason, jobs. There are military projects across this country that exist for one reason, jobs. Cronyism in the military has no place any more then in the rest of the government. Taking my money for welfare or another pathetic reason is no different then taking it for a naval base in South Dakota.

The Cold War isn't over. We just had a 20 year cease fire. To let our military become second class would be a mistake.

Our country will never find a conflict or police action that we don't want to be in so long as we fund the military with a bottomless pit of a budget.
