Okay, so I am riveted to the set watching Walking Dead. Governor cuts the sling off of some dying National Guardsman and buttstrokes him into the great beyond. Suddenly, some survivor takes off at a dead sprint. Governor raises the dead man's weapon, never checks to see if there is a round chambered or if the safety is on, and proceeds to drop him with a single shot at 100 yards - without a rear sight or optics. WTF??

I confirmed the Counselors suspicions moments ago via slow mo replay.

The target was about 50 feet away. Shouldn't be too hard.

No Sir, the target was better than 100 yards away. I just watched again and may even have the target as far as 200 yards. I call foul.

I'll have to watch again, just to be sure.

I noticed that, too...glad I'm not the only one obsessed with the details of a fictional show, haha.

Yes, in any fiction show, there are still rules. In this show there are zombies which have a known set of rules surrounding how zombies act and die. The rest of the rules pertaining to the laws of physics still exist. Up is still up and 150 yard standing shots on moving targets without rear sights are still unlikely.

Just like Carl using a pistol to make head shots on moving targets from 50+ (being generous and underestimating distance) yards.
The prop guy missed that one. At least some of the NG guys had optics/aimpoints.

Maybe we need to do a Mythbusters episode for all the stuff we see on TWD. We'll start with the no rear sight/moving target shot?

Yep. Now we'll have to find a flat-top M4 without a rear sight and some surplus ammo. Oh, and we'll need a volounteer to be the moving target. Who's up for the challenge.

I believe that the virus that each survivor is now carrying inside of them has sharpened their eyesight, and shooting abilities so such shots are in that world now the norm and to be expected, all doubting their ability is now verbotten

It's called instinct shooting. No different than a long bow or recurve.
I can tell you this, Tim: Jim Grenke is the best instinct shooter I have EVER known. I would put money on him making that shot ANY TIME

Nothing other than the front sight post. I'm sure it can be done, but only with a LOT of practice!

I don't think it's as hard as it seems. We need to find a lib or two to run downrange with a target in tow.
