View Full Version : I'm laughing out loud! This lady on long Island says they're "going to die"

Okay, we lose our power ALL the time around here. We lose it for 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 , 7 days at a time. Older folks, younger folks, all folks somehow muddle on with no power. How do we do it? Does anybody care when it happens to us? I would argue the following;
Nobody cares when we lose our power! We are so few that nobody gives a flip when a few thousand rural Michigan people lose our power. I have been told many times by Consumers Power that my complaints have been noted but that we are few in our area so we are last to have power returned.
We have back up plans when we lose our power, the bigger cities make us have those plans because resources are used to return their power before ours. This means that now, when we lose our power we are prepared but that our bigger cities, if they have a prolonged power outage go NUTS. They feel they have an actual right to power LMAO!
We use Generators, blankets, kerosene heaters, wood stoves, all sorts of things to stay warm when power goes out. City folk can use blankets and kerosene heaters just like folks used to before we had electricity but that's beneath them I guess.
I make this argument because I'm watching this old bag on CNN saying "obama has to get the trucks to her house right now or we are going to die here, we have no power and we have three older people who will freeze to death." Well, if they didn't prepare, I guess they die. I do know that it isn't my fault. I do know that resources are constantly taken from my area because we don't have the numbers to be given priority so nobody gives a flip about us when this happens. We don't seem to die and I'm sure that nobody from CNN plays any footage about us to anyone in new jersey or new york. The drama these "people" are conveying on the TV is a giant laughable joke.
I call cry baby, sissy, wimp, and pussy to anyone, short of being on dialysis, who can't make it without power for a month. Buck up, suck it up, shut up, and move on.

Again, this is why I was hoping to see the entire state of NY go the way of Atlantis.
BTW, they are telling dogboysdad that he won't have power until at least Monday

When "someone" relies on the .gov handout they have zero idea how to care for themselves. I say the zombie apocalypse is already here.

Hell yes, That's what I want to know.
Bullets are probably gonna get scarce before the infection is neutralized, so I need to perfect my tire iron/spike to the eye socket technique.

You may need to start! Let the fuel lines grow longer with slow electricity repair and someone will get shot.

Sadly, you are correct. I have a 500 gallon fuel tank out back and have not used it, just have it "in case". I'm now considering cleaning it and outfitting it for fuel storage. I'm going to have to talk to some farmers and find out how I can keep fuel for extended amounts of time in this thing.

WTF? I prepared. I fueled up the cars, got cash from the bank, got kerosene for my heater, got ice and dry ice, bought water and food, tied everything down. What else could I do?

Who said you didn't prepare? I'm talking about these whack jobs you all have that seem to think the government can stop their suffering and that it's not right they're without power. All the damage in your area Stu and you have power while a place by Cleveland does not? Why why why? I'll tell you why, because it's about the market. The market in your area, your power company, found it possible to get you power while the market in DBD'S area did not find it possible. The market is so simple for free folk.

Listen, I've been in the dark around here about how bad it really is. I haven't seen television in a week and all I've seen is some of the less messed up areas while working. I just watched the damage on tv and I tell you Tim this is a little worse than no electric and a few leaves blown around. I saw footage of Breezy and Rockaway Beach, Point Pleasant, and a few others and let me tell you these people lost everything. Breezy makes katrina look like a minor clean up job. The difference is that I can guarantee you that within a year these areas will be rebuilt, and not by fema. People where I live are out there right now repairing what is only minor damage as opposed to other areas, but unlike the katrina "victims" these people are taking care of themselves and rebuilding already.
Tons of first responders are at work, working their asses off over here even though their own homes are heavily damaged. I was on a job the other day and a firefighter was telling me that his wife was giving him hourly updates about the water level in his own home while he was at work. My daughter just did 36 hrs straight and has to be back at 6am. I've only been doing 12 hrs because of the confusion with my station being flooded. I know it's not really working because the pay checks are from the govt. and the phony taxes being taken out and how we're stealing from you and Sean and how all the people that were killed in the flood waters deserved it because they probably have a distant relative that voted for obama etc.

Stu, love you bro but you're wrong. By the time it's over YOUR people will have fleeced the rest of us just like the folks in new orleans did. It's your turn, enjoy it.

Well, we;re getting conflicting reports, then. Our client is building a new store on Rockaway. Construction began less than two weeks ago. I spoke to the GC there on thursday. He said they are untouched, have power, and are continuing building without interruption. Of course, new yorkers will make it out to be worse than it is, so they can steal a greater dollar from the tax payers of this country

Those balls on those crafty Rockaway people. They must have photoshopped the pictures in an attempt to steal our money. Disgusting.

Hey, I got no dog in the fight if the state of New York and charities want to help the affected new yorkers but I just want my money left alone. You know, a little constitutionality. I was upset over New Orleans, the bank bail out, the ca earthquake bailout, the gm bailout and ny is no different.

Oh, there is one more thing a person can do to "prepare" if given DAYS notice. You can actually LEAVE! Yes, get in your car and bug out. Take a nice 200 mile ride AWAY from the water and go camping, stay in a hotel, visit that aunt and uncle, visit the kids.
If one choose's to stay, you have one good thing, one uncomfortable thing, and one bad thing that can happen so your odds are 2 out of 3 for something not good taking place.
1. You can be untouched!
2. You can lose power
3. You can lose a large portion of your house while YOU ARE IN IT
If #1 happens, good for you and good living you are doing. If #2 or #3 happens then I wish you luck BUT if they do happen do NOT blame me. Blaming me means wanting federal money to come save your ass. As far as I'm concerned you can just die, I'm a good enough person to respect someone's choices and allow them to die.
